Duty to recognise authority of officers
25 Duty to recognise authority of officers
(1) Every member of the Police Service and all other persons are to recognise:
(a) the authority of the Commissioner and any member of a fire brigade acting
under the Commissioner’s orders, and
(b) the authority of the
officer in charge at a place at which a fire brigade is present.
(2) It is
the duty of every member of the Police Service to support the authority of
such a person and to assist him or her in enforcing compliance with any orders
given under this Act or the regulations.
(3) This section applies only in
respect of the protection of persons from injury or death, or of property from
damage, when the persons are or the property is endangered by fire or a
hazardous material incident.
