(1) A person must not make a false statement or give a false description in relation to an electrical article or model of electrical article in any acquisition guarantee, or purported acquisition guarantee, given by the person.Maximum penalty: 500 penalty units (in the case of a corporation) and 150 penalty units (in any other case).
(2) It is a defence to the prosecution of an offence against subsection (1) if the defendant proves that, when the defendant gave the guarantee, the defendant had reasonable grounds for believing that the statements and descriptions contained in the guarantee were true.
