Functions of the Committee
7 Functions of the Committee
(1) The Committee shall have the following functions: (a) to facilitate the
co-ordination of administrative and enforcement activities in relation to the
control of chemicals,
(b) to advise the Authority in relation to the
assessment of chemicals and the control of chemicals that are, or which the
Committee considers should be dealt with as,
environmentally hazardous chemicals,
(c) to advise the Authority on
priorities to be adopted in the investigation of chemicals,
(d) to
investigate and report to the Authority upon incidents involving the
contamination of the environment by chemicals and chemical wastes,
(e) to
carry out research into and report to the Authority upon any matter relating
to legislation (whether of the State or other legislation) concerning the
control of chemicals, and
(f) to investigate, carry out research into and
report to the Authority upon any matter concerning chemicals and the
environment.
(2) The Committee shall have and may exercise such other
functions as may be conferred or imposed upon it by or under this or any other
Act.
