State of emergency in respect of certain forms of energy
26 State of emergency in respect of certain forms of energy
(1) This section applies in respect of a form of energy or energy resources
other than gas or electricity.
(2) Whenever it appears to the Governor that:
(a) from any cause the available supply of a form of energy or energy
resources to which this section applies is or is likely to become less than is
sufficient for the reasonable requirements of the community, and
(b) an
emergency situation exists or is likely to exist in relation to that form of
energy or energy resources,
the Governor may, by order in writing, declare
that a state of emergency exists in relation to that form of energy or energy
resources, either in the whole State, or in any part of the State specified or
described in the declaration, in respect of the emergency.
(3) An order under
this section shall take effect from its making or from a later date specified
in it and shall (unless sooner revoked) continue in force for such period not
exceeding 28 days as is specified in it.
(4) More than one order may be made
under this section in respect of an emergency.
(5) An order under this
section shall be published in the Gazette as soon as practicable.
