Review of complaints handling systems
14 Review of complaints handling systems
(1) The Ombudsman is to review the systems of service providers for handling
complaints relating to the provision of services by, or the conduct of,
service providers.
(2) For that purpose, the Ombudsman may require the chief
executive or an employee of, or a person acting on behalf of, a
service provider to provide information about those systems and their
operation.
(3) The Ombudsman may: (a) report from time to time on any matters
relevant to the exercise of the Ombudsman’s functions under this section,
and
(b) make such recommendations from time to time as the Ombudsman thinks
fit.
(4) A copy of a report containing recommendations: (a) must be given to
the relevant Minister in relation to the service provider concerned and to the
service provider concerned, and
(b) may be given to any other person or body,
as the Ombudsman thinks appropriate.
