24A Mandatory requirements for supervision of sex offenders to be disregarded
in sentencing
(1) In sentencing an offender, the court must not take into account, as a
mitigating factor in sentencing, the fact that the offender: (a) has or may
become a registrable person under the
Child Protection (Offenders Registration) Act 2000 as a consequence of the
offence, or
(b) has or may become the subject of an order under the
Child Protection (Offenders Prohibition Orders) Act 2004 or the
Crimes (Serious Sex Offenders) Act 2006 .
(2) This section has effect despite
any Act or rule of law to the contrary.
