Informal ballot-papers
20 Informal ballot-papers
(1) A ballot-paper (including a postal voter’s ballot-paper and an absent
voter’s ballot-paper) shall be informal if: (a) it is not signed or
initialled or does not bear a mark as required by the Parliamentary
Electorates and Elections Act 1912 in respect of ballot-papers for an
election,
(b) it has upon it any mark or writing not authorised by this Part
to be put upon it, which, in the opinion of the returning officer, will enable
any person to identify the voter, or
(c) the voter has failed to mark his or
her vote in the manner directed on the ballot-paper.
(2) Informal
ballot-papers shall be rejected at the scrutiny.
