CHARITABLE FUNDRAISING ACT 1991 - SECT 54
Service of documents
54 Service of documents
(1) A document required or permitted by or under this Act to be served on a
person may, if the person is a natural person, be served: (a) by delivering
the document to the person, or
(b) by sending the document by post addressed
to the person at the person’s last known place of residence or at the
person’s registered office, or
(c) by leaving the document at the
person’s last known place of residence with some person apparently resident
at that place and apparently not less than 16 years of age, or
(d) by leaving
the document at the person’s last known place of business or at the
person’s registered office with someone apparently in the service of the
person and apparently not less than 16 years of age.
(2) A document required
or permitted by or under this Act to be served on a person may, if the person
is a corporation, be served: (a) by sending the document by post addressed to
the corporation at its registered office or principal place of business in New
South Wales, or
(b) by leaving it at the registered office or principal place
of business in New South Wales of the corporation with some person apparently
employed in connection with the business of the corporation and apparently not
less than 16 years of age.
(3) A document required or permitted by or under
this Act to be served on an organisation may, if the organisation is not
incorporated, be served: (a) by sending the document by post addressed to the
trustees or members of the governing body of the organisation at its
registered office, or
(b) by serving it on any such trustee or member of the
governing body in any manner that, by this section or otherwise according to
law, constitutes sufficient service on a natural person.
(4) The provisions
of this section are in addition to, and do not prejudice the operation of, any
other law prescribing procedures sufficient for service of documents.
