Notices and other instruments to be written in other languages
257 Notices and other instruments to be written in other languages
(1) If--
(a) the Secretary is required, by or under this Act, to cause a notice or
other instrument to be served on a person, and
(b) it appears to the
Secretary that the person is not literate in the English language but is
literate in another language,
the Secretary must, in so far as it is
reasonably practicable, cause the notice or other instrument to be written in
that other language.
(2) The notice or other instrument must be written in
such a form that there is a reasonable expectation that its contents will be
understood by the person on whom it is served.
(3) Failure to comply with
subsection (1) does not invalidate any thing done under any other provision of
this Act.
