CHILDREN (PROTECTION AND PARENTAL RESPONSIBILITY) ACT 1997 - SECT 40
Effect of approval
40 Effect of approval
(1) A local crime prevention plan, or a draft local crime prevention plan that
is subsequently adopted by the council, that is approved by the Attorney
General as a safer community compact comprises a safer community compact for
so long as the approval of it remains in force.
(2) The Attorney General may,
on application by the council for an area for which there is or is proposed to
be a safer community compact, grant such financial assistance as the Attorney
General considers appropriate to the council.
(3) The financial assistance is
to be provided out of money to be appropriated by Parliament or that is
otherwise legally available for the purposes of this Part.
(4) In this
section:
"financial assistance" means assistance to cover: (a) expenses incurred in
undertaking any initiative proposed by a safer community compact, and
(b) any
expenses incurred, or to be incurred, in developing a proposed safer community
compact, or monitoring a safer community compact.
