Meaning of “coronial proceedings”
46 Meaning of “coronial proceedings”
(1) In this Act,
"coronial proceedings" are any proceedings conducted by a coroner or assistant
coroner for the purposes of this Act concerning the investigation of a death,
suspected death, fire or explosion.
(2) Without limiting subsection (1),
coronial proceedings include the following: (a) the holding of an inquest or
inquiry,
(b) proceedings to determine whether or not to hold, or to continue
to hold, an inquest or inquiry,
(c) proceedings of an interlocutory or
similar nature (including proceedings to deal with evidential matters or case
management issues).
