BAIL ACT 2013 - As at 3 April 2024 - Act 26 of 2013 - NOTES
Note to Division 1
This Division sets out the procedures applicable to all bail decisions. Additional procedures apply to police under Division 1 of Part 5.Note to Part 5
Additional powers are conferred by Parts 8 and 9.Note to Division 4
Part 6 also provides that a court (other than the Supreme Court) must not hear a bail application if a bail decision has been made by the Supreme Court, unless special facts or circumstances justify hearing the application.Note to Part 8

Preamble
The Parliament of New South Wales, in enacting this Act, has regard to the following--
(a) the need to ensure the safety of victims of crime, individuals and the community,
(b) the need to ensure the integrity of the justice system,
(c) the common law presumption of innocence and the general right to be at liberty.
