ABORIGINAL LAND RIGHTS ACT 1983 - SECT 93
Regions
(1) The Region for a Local Aboriginal Land Council is the Region specified for
the Council in Schedule 5.
(2) The Governor may, by order published on the
NSW legislation website, amend or substitute Schedule 5.
(3) An order that
has the effect of changing the area of a Region may not be made except on the
recommendation of the Minister.
(4) The Minister must not make a
recommendation unless the Minister is satisfied that any
Local Aboriginal Land Council affected, and the
New South Wales Aboriginal Land Council, consent to the change of Region.
(5)
Subsection (4) does not apply if the change results from an order made under
section 87.
(6) The New South Wales Aboriginal Land Council or a
Local Aboriginal Land Council may at any time request the Minister to change
the name of a Region or the Council areas included in the Region.
(7)
Regulations may be made for or with respect to elections for councillors and
other matters consequential on changes to Regions.
