ZOOLOGICAL PARKS BOARD (OBJECTIVES) AMENDMENT

EXPLANATORY NOTE
(This Explanatory Note relates to this Bill as introduced into Parliament)
The object of this Bill is to amend the Zoological Parks Board Act 1973 to clarify the
objectives of the Board in establishing and managing zoological parks.
The objectives of the Board are:
(a) to carry out research and breeding programs for the preservation of endangered
species; and
(b) to carry out research programs for the conservation and protection of other
species; and
(c) to conduct public education and awareness programs about species
conservation and protection; and
(d) to display animals for educational, cultural and recreational purposes.
