ROAD IMPROVEMENT (SPECIAL FUNDING) AMENDMENT

BILL 1993

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This Explanatory Note relates to this Bill as introduced into Parliament)

This Bill is cognate with the Appropriation Bill 1993.

The object of this Bill is to amend the Road Improvement (Special Funding) Act
1989 so as to increase the special 3 x 3 fuel levy by about 2.5 per cent. The amendments
also take account of the amendments made by the proposed Business Franchise Licences
(Petroleum Products) Amendment Act 1993 which increase the fees to be paid for
petroleum licences under the Business Franchise Licences (Petroleum Products) Act
1987.

Clause 1 specifies the short title of the proposed Act.

Clause 2 provides for the commencement of the proposed Act on 1 October 1993.

Clause 3 provides for the amendment of the Principal Act as set out in Schedule 1.

SCHEDULE 1--AMENDMENTS

Schedule 1 (1) makes an amendment by way of statute law revision.

Schedule 2 (2) makes amendments in order to achieve the object of the Bill.
