ROAD IMPROVEMENT (SPECIAL FUNDING) AMENDMENT

BILL 1991

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This Explanatory Note relates to this Bill as introduced into Parliament)

This Bill is cognate with the Appropriation Bill 1991.

The object of this Bill is to amend the Road Improvement (Special Funding) Act
1989 so as:

(a) to make. amendments relating to the road improvement special 3 x 3 fuel levy
consequential on the amendments made by the proposed Business Franchise
Licences (Petroleum Products) Amendment Act 1991 which increase the fees
to be paid for petroleum licences under the Business Franchise Licences
(Petroleum Products) Act 1987; and
(b) to index the amount to be paid under the Principal Act m respect of petroleum
licences taking effect on or after 1 October 1992 by reference to movements in
the
Price Index; and
(c) to extend the levy for a further 3 years (that is, from 1 September 1992 to 31
August 1995).

Clause 1 specifies the short title of the proposed Act.

Clause 2 provides for the commencetment of the proposed Act on 1 October 1991.

Clause 3 amends section 4 of the Principal Act in order to achieve the object stated
above.
