COURTS LEGISLATION (AMENDMENT) BILL 1993

EXPLANATORY NOTE
(This Explanatory Note relates to this Bill as introduced into Parliament)
The object of this Bill is to make amendments relating to the jurisdiction of the
District Court and the jurisdiction of Local Courts under the Local Courts (Civil Claims)
Act 1970, with some similar or consequential amendments to the following Acts:
· Contracts Review Act 1980
· Compensation Court Act 1984
· Dust Diseases Tribunal Act 1989
The relevant Acts are set out in Schedules 15 in chronological order of their enactment
and an explanation follows each amendment or set of amendments.
Clause 1 specifies the short title of the proposed Act.
Clause 2 provides for the commencement of the provisions of the proposed Act.
Clause 3 gives effect to the Schedules which contain the proposed amendments.
Clause 4 makes it clear that the explanatory notes contained in the proposed Act do
not form any part of it.
