CRIMES (POLICE EVIDENCE) AMENDMENT BILL 1990

EXPLANATORY NOTE
(This Explanatory Note relates to this Bill as introduced into Parliament)
The object of this Bill is to amend the Crimes Act 1900 so as to enable a police
officer, when giving evidence in chief in any criminal proceedings, to read or be led
through a written statement made by the police officer at or soon after the
occurrence of the events to which it relates.
Clause 1 specifies the short title of the proposed Act.
Clause 2 provides for the commencement of the proposed Act on 1 January 1991.
Clause 3 amends the Crimes Act 1900 to give effect to the object referred to above.
