Explanatory note

This explanatory note relates to this Bill as introduced into Parliament.

This Bill is cognate with the Appropriation Bill 1995.

Overview of Bill

The object of this Bill is to amend the Business Franchise Licences
(Petroleum Products) Act 1987 to vary the fees to be paid for licences under
that Act in accordance with forecasted movements in the Consumer Price
Index for 1995-96.

Outline of provisions

Clause 1 sets out the name (also called the short title) of the proposed Act.

Clause 2 provides for the commencement of the proposed Act on
1 October 1995.

Explanatory note

Clause 3 amends section 40 of the Principal Act so as to vary the fees to be
paid for licences under that Act in accordance with forecasted movements in
the Consumer Price Index for 1995-96.

Clause 4 provides that the varied fees are to apply in respect of licences
that take effect on or after 1 November 1995.
