ABORIGINAL LAND RIGHTS (REVIVAL OF FINANCIAL PROVISION) BILL 1990

Act No. 32 of 1990

ABORIGINAL LAND RIGHTS (REVIVAL OF FINANCIAL

PROVISION) BILL 1990

NEW SOUTH WALES
(This Explanatory Note relates to this Bill as introduced into Parliament)

The object of this Bill is to revive a requirement under the Aboriginal Land Rights
Act 1983 (which expired on 2 May 1990) that the New South Wales Aboriginal Land
Council must:

* prepare and submit for the Minister's approval a detailed budget relating to its
operations for the next financial year.

* prepare a quarterly report, if directed by the Minister to do so, specifying the
funds granted during the quarter by the Council to other Aboriginal Land
Councils.

* comply with any directions given to it by the Minister concerning accounts,
budgets, quarterly reports and other financial records and reports by
Aboriginal Land Councils.

The requirement expired by virtue of the operation of section 33A (7) of that Act.

This Bill proposes the repeal of that subsection.
