An Act to amend the Police Integrity Commission Act 1996 with respect to the
authorship of reports prepared by the Police Integrity Commission.

The Legislature of New South Wales enacts:

 1    Name of Act
                                                                               3
           This Act is the Police Integrity Commission Amendment (Reports)
                                                                               4
           Act 2003.
                                                                               5
 2    Commencement
                                                                               6
           This Act commences on the date of assent.
                                                                               7

           The Police Integrity Commission Act 1996 is amended as set out in

           Schedule 1.

      Section 100A
                                                                                         5
      Insert after section 100:
                                                                                         6
    100A     Reports by Commission to identify author
                                                                                         7
             (1)    A report prepared by the Commission must identify its author.
                                                                                         8
             (2)    A report having more than one author must identify each of its
                                                                                         9
                    authors, and must indicate the various parts of the report for
                                                                                        10
                    which each such author is responsible.
                                                                                        11
             (3)    The author of a report in relation to any matter dealt with in a
                                                                                        12
                    hearing under Division 4 of Part 3 must be the person by
                                                                                        13
                    whom the hearing was conducted.
                                                                                        14
             (4)    Subsection (3) does not apply if the person by whom the
                                                                                        15
                    hearing was conducted is unavailable because of illness, death
                                                                                        16
                    or other unavoidable cause.
