Liquor (Rugby League Grand Final
Special Provisions) Bill 2001

An Act to modify the application of the Liquor Act 1982 to enable hotel trading
until midnight on the night of the 2001 Rugby League Grand Final.
I have examined this Bill, and find it to correspond in all respects with the Bill as
finally passed by both Houses.

Clause 1 Liquor (Rugby League Grand Final Special Provisions) Bill 2001
The Legislature of New South Wales enacts:
1 Name of Act
This Act is the Liquor (Rugby League Grand Final Special
Provisions) Act 2001.
2 Commencement
This Act commences on the date of assent.
3 Relationship with Liquor Act 1982
(1) This Act is to be construed with and as if it formed part of the Liquor
Act 1982.
(2) In the event of an inconsistency between this Act and the Liquor
Act 1982, this Act prevails to the extent of the inconsistency.
4 Hotel trading on night of 2001 Rugby League Grand Final
(1) Liquor may be sold, supplied or consumed on premises to which a
hotelier's licence relates and the premises may be kept open for the
sale, supply or consumption of liquor on Sunday 30 September 2001:
(a) from 10 am to 10 pm, and
(b) from 10 pm to midnight on that day but only when the liquor
is sold or supplied for consumption on the licensed premises.
(2) This section does not authorise the sale, supply or consumption of
liquor on any licensed premises contrary to a restriction or prohibition
imposed, otherwise than under section 24 of the Liquor Act 1982, in
respect of the trading hours for the licensed premises.
(3) Nothing in this section enables a person (including a lodger, an inmate
or an employee of a licensee) to use or operate an approved gaming
device at premises to which a hotelier's licence relates at a time other
than a time permitted by this section.
