Commencement


  1. These Regulations shall come into operation on 3 April 1988.

Persons not included in definition of "eligible employee"


  2. Regulation 4 of the Superannuation (Eligible Employees) Regulations is
amended by adding at the end of the following paragraph:
   "(zd) persons who:
           (i) immediately before 3 April 1988, were employed under the
Public Service Act 1974 of the State of Victoria as amended and in force at
that time and were not contributors for the purposes of the State Employees
Retirement Benefits Act 1979 of that State as amended and in force at that
time or the Superannuation Act 1958 of that State as amended and in force at
tha time;
          (ii) having been appointed to be officers of the Australian Public
Service on 3 April 1988 pursuant to Division 9A of Part III of the Public
Service Act, have continued to be, and are, such officiers; and
         (iii) have not requested that they be treated as eligible
employees.".
