1985 No. 34 PUBLIC SERVICE REGULATIONS (AMENDMENT) - REG 2
2. After regulation 53 of the Public Service Regulations the following
regulation is inserted: Special leave for private purposes
"53A. (1) In paragraph (2) (c), "duty" means the duties of-
(a) a Secretary;
(b) a Senior Executive Service officer; or
(c) an officer who before 1 October 1984 was an officer of the Second
Division and whose classification has not changed on or after that
date.
"(2) Where-
(a) a period of leave of absence for recreation is deemed to have been
granted to an officer by operation of law;
(b) the Chief Officer has not informed the officer that in the opinion of
the Chief Officer it is necessary in the interests of the Service that
the officer absent himself from duty during that period; and
(c) the officer does not absent himself from duty during that period, the
Chief Officer may grant to that officer under sub-section 71 (1) of
the Act special leave of absence for private purposes equal to the
duration of that period.
"(3) The maximum period of leave of absence that may be granted to an officer
under sub-section 71 (1) of the Act by virtue of sub-regulation (2) is 30 days
in any period of 12 months commencing on 1 April.".
