1.  Commencement


  1.1 These Regulations commence on 1 November 1990.

2.  Amendment


  2.1 The National Health (Pharmaceutical Benefits) Regulations are amended as
set out in these Regulations.

3.  Regulation 25 (Repeated supplies of pharmaceutical benefits)


  3.1 Subregulation 25 (2):
Omit the subregulation, substitute:
  "(2) Subject to subregulation (3), if:
  (a)  a prescription directs that a pharmaceutical benefit is to be supplied
more than once; and
  (b)  the pharmaceutical benefit is supplied (whether or not for the first
time);
the benefit must not be supplied again (whether by the same or a different
supplier) on the day on which it was so supplied or on any of the 3 days
immediately following that day.
  "(3) A pharmaceutical benefit may be supplied if the prescription for the
benefit:
  (a)  directs the supply of an amount of the benefit that is less than the
amount necessary for treatment of the person in respect of whom the
prescription was written for 4 days in accordance with the prescription; or
  (b)  the benefit is destroyed, lost or stolen;
and the person who supplies the benefit writes on the prescription the words
`immediate supply required' and signs his or her name.".
