1. Amendment


  1.1 The Health Insurance Commission Regulations are amended as set out in
these Regulations.
(NOTE:  These Regulations commence on gazettal: see Acts Interpretation Act
1901, s. 48)

2. New regulations 3G


  2.1 After regulations 3F, insert:
Additional functions of the Commission: Hib vaccinations
  "3G. (1) For the purposes of subsection 8E (1) of the Act, the following
functions are prescribed:
  (a) on behalf of the Commonwealth, to assist Hib vaccination claims; and
  (b) on behalf of the Commonwealth, to make payments in respect of valid Hib
vaccination claims.
  "(2) In this regulations:
  'Hib vaccination claim' means a claim by an individual for the cost of
purchase, during the period from 1 April 1993 to 30 June 1995 (both dates
inclusive), of vaccine against Haemophilus influenzae type b for
administration to infants born on or after 1 February 1993.".

4. Regulation 4A (Modification of Part V of the Act)


  4.1 Omit "3E and 4;", substitute "3E, 3G and 4:'.
  4.2 Paragraph 4A (a) (inserted paragraph 32A (1) (c)):
Omit "3B and 3C", substitute "3B, 3C and 3G".
