1983 No. 4 PUBLIC SERVICE REGULATIONS (AMENDMENT) - REG 2

2. Regulation 116 of the Public Service Regulations is amended-

   (a)  by inserting after sub-regulation (2) the following sub-regulation:

"(2A) Notwithstanding the provisions of sub-regulation (2), if, in the
selection of an officer to whom a direction under sub-regulation (1) is to be
given to perform temporarily the duties of an office referred to in
sub-regulation 110 (6), it is necessary to select an officer of a
classification lower than the office in relation to the duties of which the
direction is to be given, the Chief Officer shall make the selection of an
officer from officers who occupy such offices of lower classification by
selecting the officer who is the more or the most efficient officer
available."; and

   (b)  by omitting from paragraph (6) (a) "or" and substituting the following
        paragraph:

"(aa) in the case of a selection of an officer to perform the duties of an
office referred to in sub-regulation 110 (6)-on the ground of superior
efficiency; or".
