1989 N0. 39 PASSPORTS REGULATIONS (AMENDMENT)

Applications for Australian passports


  1. Regulation 5 of the Passports Regulations is amended by omitting
subregulation (1) and substituting the following subregulation:
  "(1) An application for:
  (a)  an Australian passport, a certificate of identity or a document of
identity for travel purposes;
  (b)  the endorsement of an Australian passport; or
  (c)  the renewal or endorsement of a certificate of identity or a document
of identity for travel purposes;
shall be in accordance with a form approved by the Minister.".

Validity of Australian passports


  2. Regulation 7 of the Passports Regulations is amended by omitting
subregulations (2) and (3).

Endorsement of Australian passport, etc.


  3. Regulation 11 of the Passports Regulations is amended:
  (a)  by omitting paragraph (4) (a);
  (b)  by adding at the end the following subregulation:
     "(5) For the purposes of subregulation (2) or (3), an authorised officer
may endorse a certificate of identity or a document of identity to reduce the
period of its validity.".

Review of decisions


  4. Regulation 14 of the Passports Regulations is amended:
  (a)  by omitting subparagraph (ii) from the definition of "reviewable
decision" in subregulation (1);
  (b)  by omitting "passport" from subparagraph (vii) of that definition and
substituting "passport, a certificate of identity or a document of identity
for travel purposes";
  (c)  by omitting "passport" from subparagraph (viii) of that definition and
substituting "passport, a certificate of identity or a document of identity
for travel purposes".

  5. Schedule 1 to the Passports Regulations is amended by omitting "Fiji".
