FOREIGN ACQUISITIONS AND TAKEOVERS AMENDMENT REGULATIONS 2006 (NO. 1) (SLI NO 286 OF 2006)

- Description:These Regulations amend the Foreign Acquisitions and Takeovers Regulations 1989 to introduce an exemption for foreign custodian corporations from the Foreign Acquisitions and Takeovers Act 1975 where they acquire interests in shares in relevant corporations or in Australian urban land when acting on the direction of their clients. The amendments will repeal a mechanism for foreign custodians to seek a partial exemption.
