1989 No. 2 AUSTRALIAN CAPITAL TERRITORY (ELECTORAL) REGULATIONS - REG 19

19. At the scrutiny the Assistant Returning Officer shall:

   (a)  on receipt, from a Presiding Officer, of a ballot-box, forthwith
        exhibit it for the inspection of any scrutineers in attendance;

   (b)  record the condition in which the box is received; and

   (c)  in the presence of any scrutineers in attendance, open the box and,
        subject to section 228 of the Electoral Act, take out and count the
        ballot-papers;

   (d)  record the total number of the ballot-papers taken from the box; and

   (e)  proceed with the scrutiny of the votes in accordance with the
        Electoral Act.
