TELECOMMUNICATIONS (INTERCEPTION) AMENDMENT ACT 1987 No. 89 of 1987 - SECT 16
16. (1) Sections 22, 23 and 24 of the Principal Act are repealed and the
following section is substituted: Revocation of warrant
"23. Where, before a warrant issued under this Part expires, the Commissioner
of Police or a Deputy Commissioner of Police is satisfied that the grounds on
which the warrant was issued have ceased to exist, he or she shall forthwith
take such steps as are necessary to ensure that the inspection of telegrams
under the warrant is discontinued and shall, by writing signed by him or her,
revoke the warrant.".
(2) Notwithstanding subsection (1), sections 22 and 23 of the Principal Act
continue to have effect in relation to a warrant under section 20 or 21 of the
Principal Act.
(3) Nothing in Part VII of the Principal Act as amended by this Act affects an
obligation arising under section 24 of the Principal Act.
