STATES GRANTS (TERTIARY EDUCATION ASSISTANCE) ACT 1987 No. 123, 1987 - SECT 36

36. (1) A direction shall not be given under this Part with respect to an
amount specified in a provision in relation to a State or to a relevant
institution situated in a State unless the Minister has consulted the State in
relation to the proposed variation.

(2) A direction shall not be given under this Part that could result in a
State becoming liable to pay an amount to the Commonwealth under this Act.
