STATES GRANTS (TERTIARY EDUCATION ASSISTANCE) ACT 1987 No. 123, 1987 - SECT 21
Grants for recurrent expenditure in connection with the provision of technical and further education
21. (1) If the Minister so determines, but subject to subsection (2), there is
payable to a State under this section, for the purposes of financial
assistance to the State in relation to recurrent expenditure in connection
with the provision of technical and further education in the State in respect
of the year 1988, such amount as the Minister may determine.
(2) The aggregate of the amounts determined by the Minister under subsection
(1) shall not exceed $103,100,000.
(3) Financial assistance is granted to a State under subsection (1) on the
conditions that:
(a) the State will ensure that the sum of the amounts expended by the
State and by instrumentalities of the State in the year 1988 in
relation to recurrent expenditure in connection with the provision of
technical and further education in the State, is not less than the sum
of the amounts of financial assistance paid to the State under
subsection (1);
(b) the State will ensure that each body providing technical and further
education in the State does not charge any student fees in respect of
that year or any part of that year except as provided by section 9;
(c) the State will furnish to the Minister, not later than 30 September
1989, a statement by a qualified auditor, in accordance with the form
approved by the Minister, as to the amounts expended as described in
paragraph (a); and
(d) the State will cause to be furnished to the Minister, not later than
such date as the Minister specifies, such statistical and other
information as the Minister requires in respect of the provision of
technical and further education in that State during that year.
