An Act to amend the States Grants (Technical and Further Education) Act 1974 and the States Grants (Technical and Further Education Assistance) Act 1976, and for related purposes. BE IT ENACTED by the Queen, and the Senate and House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Australia, as follows:- 1. This Act may be cited as the States Grants (Technical and Further Education Assistance) Amendment Act 1977.*1* STATES GRANTS (TECHNICAL AND FURTHER EDUCATION ASSISTANCE) AMENDMENT ACT 1977 No. 62, 1977 - SECT 2 Commencement. 2. This Act shall come into operation on the day on which it receives the Royal Assent.*1* STATES GRANTS (TECHNICAL AND FURTHER EDUCATION ASSISTANCE) AMENDMENT ACT 1977 No. 62, 1977 - SECT 3 Principal Act. 3. The States Grants (Technical and Further Education) Act 1974*2* is in this Part referred to as the Principal Act. STATES GRANTS (TECHNICAL AND FURTHER EDUCATION ASSISTANCE) AMENDMENT ACT 1977 No. 62, 1977 - SECT 4 Grants for student residence building projects. 4. Section 10 of the Principal Act is amended by omitting from subsection (3) the figures ''$4,360,000'' and substituting the figures ''$4,398,000''. A determination made under sub-section 16 (1) or 24 (1), (2), (3) or (3A) of the Principal Act and in force immediately before the commencement of this Act shall, by force of this section, cease to have effect upon the commencement of this Act, but this section shall not be taken to affect the previous operation of the determination. STATES GRANTS (TECHNICAL AND FURTHER EDUCATION ASSISTANCE) AMENDMENT ACT 1977 No. 62, 1977 - SECT 7 Payments made before Royal Assent. 7. Payments made to a State under the Principal Act before the date on which this Act receives the Royal Assent shall be deemed to have been made for the purposes of the Principal Act as amended by this Act.
