RACIAL DISCRIMINATION ACT 1975 No. 52, 1975 - SECT 2

2. (1) Sections 1, 2 and 7 shall come into operation on the day on which this
Act receives the Royal Assent.*

(2) The remaining provisions of this Act shall come into operation on a day to
be fixed by Proclamation, being a day not earlier than the day on which the
Convention enters into force for Australia.

(3) The power of the Governor-General to appoint the Commissioner or to make
regulations under this Act and the power of the Attorney-General to appoint
members of the Council may be exercised at any time after the day on which
this Act receives the Royal Assent but any appointment or regulations so made
shall not take effect until the date fixed under sub-section (2).
