PRICES SURVEILLANCE ACT 1983 No. 145, 1983 - SECT 19

Authority to give notice in relation to inquiries

19. (1) Where the Authority is to hold an inquiry, the Authority shall, as
soon as practicable and in any case before it commences to hold the inquiry-

   (a)  give reasonable notice in each State and internal Territory, by
        advertisement published in the Gazette and in a newspaper circulating
        in that State or Territory, as the case may be, that it is to hold the
        inquiry and specifying the matter or matters in relation to which the
        inquiry is to be held and the time and place at which the inquiry is
        to commence; and

   (b)  if the inquiry is to be held in relation to the supply of goods or
        services by a particular person or persons-serve on the person, or on
        each of the persons, as the case may be, a notice in writing stating
        that the Authority is to hold the inquiry and specifying the matter or
        matters in relation to which the inquiry is to be held and the time
        and place at which the inquiry is to commence.

(2) Where-

   (a)  an inquiry is being held in relation to the supply of goods or
        services of a particular description by a particular person or
        persons; and

   (b)  the Minister, pursuant to sub-section 18 (6), extends, or further
        extends, the period within which the inquiry is required to be
        completed and a report on the inquiry submitted,
the Authority shall forthwith serve on the person, or on each of the persons,
as the case may be, a notice in writing giving particulars of the extension or
further extension.
