PIG INDUSTRY ACT 1986 No. 157, 1986 - SECT 42

42. (1) The Committee shall consist of 4 members, namely-

   (a)  the Presiding Member;

   (b)  2 members nominated by the Australian Pork Producers' Federation; and

   (c)  1 member nominated by the National Meat Processors' Association.

(2) A member of the Committee shall be appointed by the Minister and, subject
to this Act, holds office on a part-time basis for such period, not exceeding
3 years, as is specified in the instrument of appointment.

(3) A person who is a member of the Corporation is not eligible to be
appointed as a member of the Committee.

(4) The members of the Committee hold office on such terms and conditions (if
any) in respect of matters not provided for by this Act as are determined by
the Minister by instrument in writing.

(5) The appointment of a member of the Committee is not invalid on the ground
of a defect or irregularity in connection with the member's nomination or
appointment.

(6) The exercise of a power or the performance of a function by the Committee
is not invalidated by reason only of-

   (a)  the number of members falling below 4 for a period of not more than 6
        months; or

   (b)  there being a vacancy in the office of Presiding Member.
