NATIONAL HEALTH AMENDMENT ACT (No. 2) 1978 No. 132, 1978 - SECT 9

9. Section 73BB of the Principal Act is amended-

(a) by omitting from sub-sections (2) and (4) ''the standard table''
(wherever occurring) and substituting ''a basic table or an optional table'';

   (b)  by omitting sub-section (10); and

   (c)  by adding at the end thereof the following sub-section:

''(12) Where benefits are payable, in accordance with the rules of a
registered hospital benefits organization, in respect of hospital treatment
outside Australia, then, for the purposes of this section-

   (a)  those benefits shall be deemed to be hospital benefits;

   (b)  those benefits shall be deemed to be included in a basic table; and

   (c)  any contributions that are identifiable as contributions solely in
        respect of those benefits shall be deemed to be contributions in
        respect of a basic table.''.
