NAVIGATION AMENDMENT ACT 1981 No. 10, 1981 - SECT 46

46. Section 109 of the Navigation Amendment Act 1980*3* is amended by omitting
paragraph (a) and substituting the following paragraph:



"(a) the following sub-section were inserted after sub-section (1) of that
section of the Principal Act:

'(1A) When a contract of sea service with a seaman is terminated or otherwise
ceases to be in force, the employer shall return, or cause to be returned, to
the seaman any certificate belonging to the seaman in the possession, custody
or control of the employer.

Penalty for a contravention of this sub-section -

   (a)  if the offender is a natural person - $500; or

   (b)  if the offender is a body corporate - $1,000.'; and".
