MINERALS (SUBMERGED LANDS) ACT 1981 No. 81, 1981 - SECT 89
Service
89. (1) A document required or permitted by this Act to be served on a person
other than the Designated Authority or a corporation may be served -
(a) by delivering the document to that person personally;
(b) by prepaying and posting the document as a letter addressed to that
person at his last known place of abode or business or, if he is
carrying on business at 2 or more places, at 1 of those places;
(c) by leaving the document at the last known place of abode of that
person with some person apparently an inmate of that place and
apparently not less than 16 years of age; or
(d) by leaving the document at the last known place of business of that
person or, if he is carrying on business at 2 or more places, at 1 of
those places with some person apparently in the service of that person
and apparently not less than 16 years of age.
(2) A document required or permitted by this Act to be served on the
Designated Authority shall be served -
(a) by prepaying and posting the document as a letter addressed to the
Designated Authority at a place of business of the
Designated Authority; or
(b) by leaving it at a place of business of the Designated Authority with
some person apparently employed in connection with the business of the
Designated Authority and apparently not less than 16 years of age.
(3) A document required or permitted by this Act to be served on the Joint
Authority shall be deemed to be duly served if it is served on the Designated
Authority.
(4) A document required or permitted by this Act to be served on a person,
being a corporation, may be served -
(a) by prepaying and posting the document as a letter addressed to the
corporation at its last known place of business or, if it is carrying
on business at 2 or more places, at 1 of those places; or
(b) by leaving it at that place, or at 1 of those places, with some person
apparently in the service of the corporation and apparently not less
than 16 years of age.
(5) Where a document required or permitted by this Act to be served is posted
as a letter in accordance with this section, service shall, unless the
contrary is proved, be deemed to have been effected at the time at which the
letter would have been delivered in the ordinary course of post.
