Home Deposit Assistance Act 1982 No. 40 of 1982 - SECT 55

55. (1) A grant to a sole applicant shall be paid to the applicant or, if the
applicant so requests in writing and the Secretary approves, to another person
nominated by the applicant.

(2) Subject to sub-sections (3) and (4), a grant to joint applicants shall be
paid to the joint applicants or, if the joint applicants so request in writing
and the Secretary approves, to a person or persons nominated by the
joint applicants.

(3) Where a joint applicant has died before the payment of a grant,
sub-section (2) applies in relation to the payment of the grant as if the
reference in that sub-section to the joint applicants did not include a
reference to the deceased joint applicant.

(4) Where, for any reason, the Secretary considers that it is not practicable
to pay a grant to all the joint applicants in respect of an application, he
may pay the grant to such of those joint applicants as he considers
appropriate.

(5) A grant paid in accordance with a request under sub-section (1) to a
person other than the sole applicant or paid under sub-section (2) or (4)
otherwise than to all the joint applicants in respect of an application shall,
for the purposes of this Act, be deemed to have been paid to the sole
applicant, or to all the joint applicants, as the case may be.
