Home Deposit Assistance Act 1982 No. 40 of 1982 - SECT 51

51. (1) Where the Secretary has reason to believe that a person is in
possession of any information in relation to any matter that might affect the
payment of a grant to any other person, he may, by notice in writing served by
post on the first-mentioned person at the address of the person last known to
the Secretary, require the person to furnish to him a confidential report
relating to that matter within 14 days after the notice is served.

(2) A person on whom a notice is so served shall not-

   (a)  without lawful excuse, refuse or fail to comply with the notice; or

   (b)  furnish a report in response to the notice that, to his knowledge, is
        false or misleading in a material particular.

Penalty: $500.

(3) The Secretary shall not exercise his powers under sub-section (1) except
with the approval of the Minister.
