  1. (1) This Act may be cited as the Customs Tariff (Uranium Concentrate
Export Duty) Amendment Act 1988.
  (2) In this Act, "Principal Act" means the Customs Tariff (Uranium
Concentrate Export Duty) Act 1980.*1*

Commencement

  2. This Act shall be deemed to have commenced at the hour of 8 o'clock in
the evening by standard time in the Australian Capital Territory on 15
September 1987.

Rate of Duty

  3. Section 6 of the Principal Act is amended by omitting from subsection (1)
"$0.80" and substituting "$1.02".

Saving

  4. Notwithstanding the amendment made by this Act, the Principal Act as in
force immediately before the commencement of this Act continues to apply in
relation to:
  (a)  Alligator Rivers Region uranium concentrate loaded on to a vessel
before the commencement of this Act for export from Australia; and
  (b)  Alligator Rivers Region uranium concentrate loaded on to a vessel after
the commencement of this Act for export from Australia as part of a
consignment of Alligator Rivers Region uranium concentrate for export from
Australia the loading of which on to that vessel commenced before the
commencement of this Act.
