COMPLAINTS (AUSTRALIAN FEDERAL POLICE) ACT 1981 No. 21 of 1981 - SECT 55

55. (1) A person is not qualified to be appointed as President or as a
Deputy President unless he is the holder of a judicial office.

(2) A person is not qualified to be appointed as a member other than President
or a Deputy President unless -

   (a)  he holds an office of Magistrate of a State or Territory; or

   (b)  he has been, for a period of not less than 5 years, a legal
        practitioner.
