COMPLAINTS (AUSTRALIAN FEDERAL POLICE) ACT 1981 No. 21 of 1981 - SECT 44

Offences
44. (1) A person shall not, without reasonable excuse -

   (a)  fail to attend before the Ombudsman;

   (b)  refuse or fail to be sworn or make an affirmation; or

   (c)  refuse or fail to answer a question or produce a document or record,
        when so required in pursuance of this Part.

Penalty: $1,000 or imprisonment for 6 months.

(2) A person shall not -

   (a)  without reasonable excuse, wilfully obstruct, hinder or resist the
        Ombudsman or any other person in the exercise of his functions under
        this Part; or

   (b)  furnish information or make a statement to the Ombudsman or to an
        authorized person knowing that it is false or misleading in a material
        particular.

Penalty: $500 or imprisonment for 3 months.

(3) A reference in this section to the Ombudsman includes a reference to a
Deputy Ombudsman.
