AUSTRALIAN WOOL RESEARCH AND PROMOTION ORGANISATION ACT 1993 No. 63 of 1993 - SECT 29

Deputy of Chairperson
29. (1) The Minister may, in writing, appoint a member referred to in
paragraph 28(1)(d) to be the deputy of the Chairperson.

(2) The person holds office as a deputy of the Chairperson until the Minister
ends the appointment or the person ceases to be a member, whichever first
happens.

(3) A member may resign an appointment as deputy of the Chairperson by giving
the Minister a signed notice of resignation, but the resignation is not
effective until it is accepted by the Minister.

(4) The deputy of the Chairperson has the powers, and must perform the
functions, of the Chairperson:

   (a)  during any vacancy in the office of Chairperson; and

   (b)  during any period when the Chairperson is absent from Australia or is,
        for any other reason, unable to perform the duties of the office of
        Chairperson.

(5) Anything done by or in relation to a person purporting to act under
subsection (4) is not ineffective on the ground that:

   (a)  the occasion for the person's appointment had not arisen; or

   (b)  there is a defect or irregularity in connection with the person's
        appointment; or

   (c)  the person's appointment had ceased to have effect; or

   (d)  the occasion for the person to act had not arisen or had ceased.
