ANTARCTIC TREATY (ENVIRONMENT PROTECTION) ACT 1980 No. 103 of 1980 - SECT 24

24. (1) An offence against this Act (other than an offence referred to in
sub-section (2)) may be prosecuted summarily or on indictment.

(2) An offence against this Act that is punishable by a fine only shall be
prosecuted summarily.

(3) Where proceedings for an offence against this Act (other than an offence
referred to in sub-section (2)) are brought in a court of summary
jurisdiction, the court may commit the defendant for trial or to be otherwise
dealt with in accordance with law or, with the consent of the defendant and of
the prosecutor, may, if the court is satisfied that it is proper to do so,
determine the proceedings summarily.
