AUSTRALIAN SECURITY INTELLIGENCE ORGANIZATION ACT 1979 No. 113 of 1979 - SECT 82

82. (1) A person summoned to appear as a witness before the Tribunal is
entitled to be paid fees, and allowances for expenses, fixed by or in
accordance with the regulations.

(2) Subject to sub-section (3), the fees and allowances shall be paid-

   (a)  where the witness was summoned at the request of the applicant-by the
        applicant; and

   (b)  in any other case-by the Commonwealth.

(3) The Tribunal may, in its discretion, order that the fees and allowances of
a witness referred to in paragraph (2) (a) shall be paid, in whole or in part,
by the Commonwealth.
