ABORIGINAL LAND GRANT (JERVIS BAY TERRITORY) ACT 1986 No. 164 of 1986 - SECT 29

Executive members
29. (1) A person is not eligible to be an executive member unless he or she is
a registered member.

(2) Subject to sub-section (3), executive members shall be elected at annual
general meetings.

(3) Where a vacancy occurs in the office of an executive member earlier than
30 days before the next annual general meeting, the Chairperson, or, if there
is no Chairperson, the Minister, shall convene a special general meeting and
an election to fill that vacancy shall be held at that special general
meeting.

(4) Subject to this Act, an executive member holds his or her office from the
time at which he or she is declared to have been elected to the office at a
general meeting until the time, at the next annual general meeting after that
meeting, at which a person is declared to have been elected to that office.

(5) An executive member is eligible for re-election.

(6) The functions of the Secretary are-

   (a)  such functions as are conferred on the Secretary by a provision of
        this Act (other than this section) or by the regulations; and

   (b)  such functions as the Council or the executive committee determines to
        be necessary or desirable for the performance of the functions and the
        exercise of the powers of the Council.
