AUSTRALIAN HOUSING CORPORATION ACT 1975 No. 25 of 1975 - SECT 49

Acquisition.
49. (1) Subject to this Act, the Corporation may acquire by agreement or by
compulsory process any land for the purposes of the Corporation but may not
acquire by compulsory process any land that is Crown land of a State. This
section shall not affect the power of the Corporation to acquire land for the
purposes of the Defence Service Homes Act 1918-1975.

(2) The provisions of the Lands Acquisition Act 1955-1973 apply, with such
modifications and adaptations as are prescribed, in relation to the
acquisition of land under sub-section (1).

(3) Where there is established under the law of a State a Land Commission or
similar body having functions that include the acquisition and making
available of land for housing purposes, land required by the Corporation for
the performance of its functions in that State shall, as far as practicable,
be acquired from that Land Commission or similar body.
